Dates: Sat. June 19, and Sat. June 26, 2021
Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm each of the 2 days
Place: Virtual Live Workshop with Zoom
Note: This is the Virtual Offering of this workshop, and we are now able to split it into two sessions with time to work in between. The project for Part 1 will be the Boro Stitch Sampler, and Part 2 will be another Boro Stitched square using different fabrics and threads.
Japanese Boro Stitching began long ago as a way of mending clothing, but it has evolved into the loveliest of art forms that is done by many as a daily practice.
This mindful hand stitching is pared down to the basics using very simple stitches. The beauty of the work evokes a great appreciation for simple pleasures as you learn the design, construction, and stitching on a square compiled of a variety of fabrics.
This workshop will be taught through Zoom in 2 three hour sessions set a week apart to give you plenty of time to do more stitching before the second session.
- A Supply List will be emailed to everyone once the class is filled, so make sure you add the correct email list.
- The Student Handouts will be sent to you a few days before the start of the workshop.
- Instruction will be provided for free form piecing and all embroidery techniques.
- A pattern for a stitch sampler is also provided, and you can work on either of the two projects or both. Both projects are 9"squares.
You will have plenty of time to relax, experiment, and play with this wonderful art form as you create your own original piece with all the help you need. There is not a Supply Kit provided for this class, but we do have a Boro Stitch Kit available. This kit has enough fabric to make several 10" squares.
About Zoom: If you haven't taken a Zoom class before and you are a little nervous about doing so, I would be happy to do a little complimentary test run beforehand to help you out. Just contact me to set up a time. Contact
