There are 3 different types of fabric markers I use on a regular basis. While I have used them extensively for quite some time, you should always do a little test swatch of the marker you are using on the exact fabric you are working on. I have never had an issue with any of these markers not coming out or marring the fabric in any way. That being said, you should always try to mark your fabric just dark enough so you can see where to stitch.
- Fine Line Blue Marker: water erasable, for light to medium colored fabrics that you can spray or get slightly wet to remove marks
- White Stabilo Pencil: water erasable, for medium to very dark colored fabrics. Marks that don't disappear by the time you are done with a piece, just need to be dabbed gently with a clean white cloth.
- Frixion Pens: heat erasable, works for most colors of fabric except very dark. Remove by very gently steaming from the back side of your work.
